Mass and Potluck – On Sunday, March 31, 2019 (Laetare Sunday), Mass and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament will be offered by Fr. Reginald Brocard, OP at St. Dominic’s chapel. We welcome everyone to stay afterwards for our usual potluck!
Schedule for April – There will be no Mass at St. Dominic’s on the 1st Sunday of the month in April. We will have Mass towards the middle of the month.
Hymns for Mass – The hymns and chant chosen to be sung during the Mass for Laetare Sunday: The Glory of These Forty Days, Vexilla Regis, Audi Benigne Conditor, and Parce Domine.
Epistle Reading (Gal. 4:22-31) Brethren: It is written that Abraham had two sons: the one by a bondwoman, and the other by a free woman. But he who was of the bondwoman, was born according to the flesh: but he of the free woman, was by promise. Which things are said by an allegory. For these are the two testaments. Quinquagesima Sunday – Quinquagesima is the last Sunday before Ash Wednesday. Quinquagesima means “50th day” because it is (roughly) 50 days before Easter.
Lent begins this Wednesday – This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. Ash Wednesday is a day of mandatory fasting and abstinence, even in the permissive Conciliar Church. The imposition of ashes on Ash Wednesday (or the following Sunday) is a sacramental, during which the priest repeats the words God spoke to Adam, “Thou art dust, and unto dust thou shalt return.”
Epistle Reading (1 Cor. 13:1-13) Brethren: If I speak with the tongues of men, and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And if I should have prophecy and should know all mysteries, and all knowledge, and if I should have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. Continued Chapel Improvements – On the day after the most recent Mass at St. Dominic’s, we began several chapel improvement projects. Work is being done to stain the new altar. The chapel sidewalk has also been lengthened by 10 feet, replacing dozens of paver bricks. And stay tuned for the announcement of another major chapel improvement!

Benediction – Today is the 3rd Sunday of the month, so we will have Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament immediately after Mass.
Mission Pilgrimage in October – on Saturday, October 22nd at 10:30 AM we will be making a pilgrimage to the San Antonio missions. Drivers and other volunteers needed. Please see Matthew for details.
Chapel Improvements – We have been upgrading the altar and sanctuary. So far, the altar backdrop has been enlarged, and there is a nice wooden step under the altar complete with hardwood flooring. A new altar has been built; it only needs to be stained and decorated. Donations can be placed in the Donation Can in the back of the chapel.

Excuse Our Mess – Due to the various construction projects (altar, altar step, backdrop) the chapel is still recovering from the experience. The chapel was a cluttered, sawdust-strewn construction zone as recently as Saturday at 8:00 PM. We hope to finish the chapel cleaning at the earliest opportunity.

High Mass – August is dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, so we will be singing Mass IX (cum jubilo, “with joy”) for today’s Mass. Mass IX is typically used on feasts of Our Lady.
Festival Today – We are having our 2nd Annual Parish Festival in honor of St. Dominic today. Besides the usual High Mass and potluck, we will also have some games for the adults and children. Games will include saints trivia, musical chairs, tug-of-war, water balloons, etc. Please come and join the fun!

Everyone coming together and lending their time and talents really helped make this event a success!

Welcome His Excellency to St. Dominic’s – Today, May 22nd, His Excellency Bishop Richard Williamson is offering a High Mass at our chapel. Please welcome Fr. Garcia here as well.
Potluck after Mass – As planned, there will be a Texas Bar-B-Q “Episcopal potluck” after the High Mass today to celebrate His Excellency’s visit to our humble chapel. Please bring a dish and join us in our celebration. His Excellency will be there to visit with the Faithful. It’s not every day one gets to have dinner with a Bishop present!
High Mass – In honor of Our Lady as well as the Most Holy Trinity, we will sing Mass IX (“cum jubilo”), as well as Credo IV. We will also sing “O God Almighty Father”, “O Mary of Graces” and “Holy God We Praise Thy Name”.
Bishop Williamson Conference – Tomorrow, May 23rd, Bishop Williamson will be offering Mass at Stella Maris Chapel outside Houston, with a meal and conference afterwards. Stella Maris Chapel is located at 1131 Delaney Rd, La Marque, TX 77568.

May Crowning and First Communions – Today is Mothers’ Day. In honor of Our Blessed Mother, there will be a short procession and May Crowning after Mass today. There will also be 2 First Communions!
Mothers’ Day – We would like to wish all mothers a very happy Mothers’ Day! Fr. Zendejas said we should especially pray for our mothers and grandmothers in the weeks before Mothers’ Day.
Benediction Next Week – On the 3rd Sunday of the month, May 15th, we will have Benediction after Mass.
Bishop Williamson coming to St. Dominic’s – On the 4th Sunday, May 22nd, His Excellency Bishop Richard Williamson will be offering a High Mass at St. Dominic’s. There will be a potluck afterwards. His Excellency hasn’t been to the San Antonio area since 2005. This is an excellent opportunity to meet him and hear him in person!
Chapel Improvements – We should make St. Dominic’s look as good as possible before the Bishop’s visit. So we have need of volunteers willing to help clean the chapel, altar, and help with other small projects. Bishop Richard Williamson to offer High Mass at St. Dominic’s Chapel – May 22, 2016 4:00 PM

On May 22, 2016 His Excellency Bishop Richard Williamson will be offering a High Mass at St. Dominic’s Chapel in Seguin, TX.

Mass will be at 4:00 PM with Confessions and Rosary 1/2 hour before.
Fr. Garcia will be here as well, and will probably be hearing Confessions during Mass.

There will be a potluck after the Mass.

Bishop Williamson – Mass and Confirmations in Houston, Texas – July 6, 2015

Quite a few Catholics traveled to Houston, Texas from San Antonio — and much further away — to be there for this extraordinary occasion. We would have even had some from Austin, but they had car problems.

At Mass during the sermon, Bishop Williamson endorses the apostolate of Fr. Zendejas and Fr. Garcia:

There are now TWO permanent locations in Texas for the Traditional Latin Mass being served by this small group of priests alone: San Antonio, TX and Houston, TX. (Of course, the San Antonio location is close enough for Austin residents as well.) Both locations use the 1962 Missal, which is completely traditional, and free from all the 1960’s changes inflicted by the Second Vatican Council. We must never cease our resistance to Vatican 2, which caused so much damage to the Catholic Church and to souls!
