2018 San Antonio Mission Pilgrimage – schedule, details, map, route, and more!

2018 San Antonio Mission Pilgrimage		October 27, 2018

Bishop Zendejas is organizing a pilgrimage to the San Antonio Missions on Saturday, October 27, 2018— the day before the Feast of Christ the King.

There will be Mass at 11:30 AM near Mission San José. All are invited to the Mass and/or Pilgrimage. There will be organizers at San José directing everyone to the designated location for Mass. Even if you are not able to walk the whole route, you are still encouraged to assist at Mass and/or drive to each Mission for prayers, short sermons, Catholic hymns, and participation in a public act of faith with fellow Traditional Catholics.

Nothing strengthens one’s faith like public actions witnessing to the Catholic Faith.

SCHEDULE
9:00 AM – Gather at Mission San José (park vehicles in nearby parking lot)
9:30 AM – Begin Pilgrimage towards Mission Concepción via the Mission Trail, then walk back to Mission San José for Mass.
11:30 AM – Mass at Mission San José
12:30 PM – Lunch (bring your own food and snacks) and conference
1:30 PM – Continue pilgrimage to last two Missions (San Juan and Espada).
At the end, vehicles will shuttle pilgrims back to Mission San José

WHAT TO BRING
• Both men and women should dress appropriately for Mass and visits to the Mission chapels. Normal pilgrim attire includes modest, lightweight and light-colored clothing, comfortable shoes, hats, sunglasses, etc. Please keep an eye on the weather forecast as the day of the Pilgrimage approaches.
• Anything needed for Mass and prayer (missals, prayerbooks, rosaries, chapel veils)
• Water, food, snacks, and anything else a family might need on a hike.

Mass on February 11th – On Saturday, February 11th at 4:00 PM Fr. Trincado will offer Mass. It is the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. After Mass there will be a potluck. Please join us!

High Mass – There will be a High Mass this Sunday, with a potluck afterwards.
Music for today’s High Mass – We will be singing Mass XI (Orbis Factor), commonly used for Sundays after Pentecost, and Credo IV. We will also sing Hail True Victim Life and Light, Hail Queen of Heaven, O Esca Viatorum, and Hail Holy Joseph.
Mission Pilgrimage in October – on Saturday, October 22nd at 10:30 AM we will be making a pilgrimage to the San Antonio missions. Drivers and other volunteers needed. Please see Matthew for details.
Chapel Improvements – We have been upgrading the altar and sanctuary. So far, the altar backdrop has been enlarged, and there is a nice wooden step under the altar now. In the coming weeks, a wooden altar will be built, and hardwood flooring will be installed on the altar step.

Festival Next Sunday – on August 7th, we will have our 2nd Annual Parish Festival in honor of St. Dominic. Besides the usual High Mass and potluck, we will also have some games for the adults and children. Games will include saints trivia, musical chairs, tug-of-war, water balloons, etc. Please come and join the fun!

Feast of Pentecost – Today is the great feast of Pentecost, the birthday of the Catholic Church and the 3rd greatest feast in the entire Liturgical Year.
Benediction Today – We will have Benediction after Mass, since today is the 3rd Sunday of the month.
Bishop Williamson coming to St. Dominic’s – Next Sunday, May 22nd, His Excellency Bishop Richard Williamson will be offering a High Mass at St. Dominic’s. There will be a potluck afterwards. His Excellency hasn’t been to the San Antonio area since 2005. This is an excellent opportunity to meet him and hear him in person!

May Crowning and First Communions – Today is Mothers’ Day. In honor of Our Blessed Mother, there will be a short procession and May Crowning after Mass today. There will also be 2 First Communions!
Mothers’ Day – We would like to wish all mothers a very happy Mothers’ Day! Fr. Zendejas said we should especially pray for our mothers and grandmothers in the weeks before Mothers’ Day.
Benediction Next Week – On the 3rd Sunday of the month, May 15th, we will have Benediction after Mass.

Beware Mass Time Change! – TODAY (March 6th) we will have Low Mass at 8:00 AM instead of the usual 4:00 PM. Also, our usual monthly High Mass and potluck will be moved to the SECOND Sunday of March (March 13th) — when Mass will return to the normal 4:00 PM time.
Rejoice Sunday – Today is Laetare (Latin, “Rejoice”) Sunday, or the half-way point of Lent. We should look back and assess our Lent so far, and redouble our efforts going forward. Only 3 weeks until Easter! Because of the feast today, the altar is decorated with flowers unlike the other Sundays of Lent.
More New Sidewalk – The chapel’s concrete sidewalk has been extended to 64 feet long! The sidewalk is necessary whenever it rains, due to mud and water runoff. If you wish to make a donation towards this chapel improvement, you can use the donation can on the table by the main entrance.
