St. Dominic's Chapel is traditional Catholic, rejecting the changes of Vatican 2. We only wish to remain Roman Catholic, even as the post-Vatican II Conciliar Church becomes Protestant. We choose to follow the first 261 popes, rather than the last 5!
Mass on FIRST Saturday, September 1st – At 4:00 PM, Fr. Reginald Brocard, O.P. will offer Mass here. Fr. Reginald is visiting from the Dominican convent in Avrille, France. Father will be the first Dominican priest to offer Mass here at St. Dominic’s Chapel.
Potluck after Mass – Please join us for a potluck after Mass, where everyone will get a chance to meet and talk with Father. We believe it is worthwhile and important to socialize with other Traditional Catholics, since we are geographically isolated from each other, and often attacked from all sides in this decadent modern world.
First Saturday – The First Saturday of every month is traditionally dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Mass on SUNDAY, February 11th – At 4:00 PM, Fr. Richard Voigt will offer Mass at St. Dominic’s Chapel. There will also be a potluck after the Mass. Please join us!
Quinquagesima Sunday – Quinquagesima is the last Sunday before Ash Wednesday. Quinquagesima means “50th day” because it is (roughly) 50 days before Easter.
Lent begins this Wednesday – This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. Ash Wednesday is a day of mandatory fasting and abstinence, even in the permissive Conciliar Church. The imposition of ashes on Ash Wednesday (or the following Sunday) is a sacramental, during which the priest repeats the words God spoke to Adam, “Thou art dust, and unto dust thou shalt return.”

Mass Time Change – Next Sunday (the 25th), Mass with be at 7:30 in the morning. There will not be Mass at 4:00 PM. Meanwhile, Bishop Williamson will be offering a High Mass at 9:30 AM Sept. 25 at Stella Maris Chapel (1131 Delaney Rd, La Marque, TX) followed by a potluck and conference.
Mission Pilgrimage Cancelled – We have been forced to cancel the Mission Pilgrimage originally planned for October 22nd. If we have Mass that week, it will likely be a substitute priest.

On late Saturday, we finished building the new altar. Earlier this week, the hardwood flooring was installed on the altar step, and many hours were spent improving the look of the white backdrop.
Still to be done: install altar trim, stain the altar dark brown, building another gradine (a wooden box placed on the altar, on which the candlesticks are set) and other finishing touches.
Fr. Rene Trincado offered Mass at St. Dominic’s Chapel last Sunday, August 28, 2016. Everything went well and after Mass Father managed to get to his next location (Stella Maris Chapel) in time for their 11:15 AM Mass.
High Mass – August is dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, so we will be singing Mass IX (cum jubilo, “with joy”) for today’s Mass. Mass IX is typically used on feasts of Our Lady.
Festival Today – We are having our 2nd Annual Parish Festival in honor of St. Dominic today. Besides the usual High Mass and potluck, we will also have some games for the adults and children. Games will include saints trivia, musical chairs, tug-of-war, water balloons, etc. Please come and join the fun!

Over 13 Months of Masses – Fathers Zendejas and Garcia have been making the 3 1/4 to 4 1/2 hour trip from Houston to Seguin every Sunday for over 13 months now! (The first Sunday Mass was May 10, 2015.) And during that whole time, they only missed one Sunday, when Bishop Faure visited the United States last November. We are most grateful to our priests for their dedication in making the drive here every Sunday.

Wooden pews, Stations of the Cross, Mass vestments, pictures, kneeler, holy water font, altar upgrades, A/C upgrades, sidewalk upgrades, and dozens of other improvements and upgrades. Rejoice Sunday – Today is Laetare (Latin, “Rejoice”) Sunday, or the half-way point of Lent. We should look back and assess our Lent so far, and redouble our efforts going forward. Only 3 weeks until Easter! Because of the feast today, the altar is decorated with flowers unlike the other Sundays of Lent.

Benediction Today – This Sunday is the 3rd Sunday of the month, so we will have Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament immediately after Mass.

A Look Ahead – The 1st Sunday of March, (March 6th, also Laetare Sunday) we will have Low Mass at 8:00 AM instead of the usual 4:00 PM. Also, our usual monthly High Mass and potluck will be moved to the SECOND Sunday of March (March 13th).

Fr. Voigt Mass – Next Sunday (January 31st), we welcome back Fr. Richard Voigt who will be visiting St. Dominic’s to offer Mass. It also happens to be the feast of St. John Bosco, the founder of the Salesian order. Fr. Voigt is a Salesian priest who came to Tradition several years ago and was conditionally ordained by Bishop Williamson.

Catholic Faith Fact – On Septuagesima (Greek for “seventy days”), the Church turns her attention to the coming season of Lent. Easter is now less than 70 days away, and we should begin thinking about what sacrifices we will offer up this Lent. Another name for Lent is Quadragesima or “the Forty Days”, referring to the forty days’ fast Our Lord performed in the desert right before He began His public ministry.
We have some extraordinary news items this week — a feast in honor of our patron, and a Holy Day Mass coming up on August 15th!
Feast of St. Dominic – This Sunday we will be celebrating the feast of our patron, St. Dominic. St. Dominic saved the Church from the Albigensian heretical scourge many centuries ago, and we plan to honor this friend of God — and our chapel’s patron — on his feast day. There will be High Mass followed by a pot luck and a few games for the children. Please join us in our joyful celebration!
High Mass this Sunday – August 2nd is the 1st Sunday of the month, so there will be a High Mass this Sunday. We will be singing Kyrie XI and Credo I. You will find the Gregorian chant for Mass XI in your Traditional Roman Hymnal or hand missal.
Holy Day coming up – Mark your calendars! Mass on August 15th, the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, will be at 10:00 AM. The Church rejoices on this great feast day of the Blessed Mother. We are happy to celebrate the Assumption on August 15th, as it should be, rather than on the following Sunday as is done in countless modern, Vatican II Catholic churches.
There will be a small celebration after Mass next Sunday, August 2nd, to celebrate the feast day of our chapel’s patron, St. Dominic! His feast day is August 4th (at least in the Traditional 1962 liturgical church calendar), which falls on a Tuesday this year. All faithful Catholics in the San Antonio and Austin areas are welcome to come and join us in our celebration!
St. Dominic received for the Catholic Church the Holy Rosary from the hands of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This was to be an extraordinary and powerful spiritual weapon in the centuries to come, as millions of Rosaries were prayed in churches all over the world. The Order he founded, the Dominicans, put up a firm resistance to, and even destroyed, the Albigensian heresy. His Order of Friars Preachers laid the foundation for spiritual and intellectual giants such as St. Thomas Aquinas.
August 2nd also happens to be the 1st Sunday of the month, so we will be having a High Mass as usual at our chapel. (We have High Mass every 1st Sunday of the month, and Benediction after Mass on every 3rd Sunday of the month.) We look forward to a large turnout from Austin, San Antonio, Bandera, Columbus, and other cities.

From San Antonio, you take I-10 East. The exit off I-10 is number 601.
St. Dominic’s Chapel is nestled in the beautiful, open farmland between Marion and Seguin.
We are conveniently located, or at least decently close for a Traditional Latin Mass, to many major cities including Seguin, Marion, Austin, Santa Clara, McQueeney, Cibolo, New Braunfels, Schertz, Converse, Live Oak, Universal City, Garden Ridge, New Berlin, Spring Branch, Boerne, Stockdale, Nixon, Adkins, La Vernia, San Marcos, Floresville, Canyon Lake, Windcrest, Castle Hills, Castroville, Waelder, Schulenburg, Lockhart, Columbus, Bryan, College Station, and Luling.
Here is what the front entrance to the property looks like: (The sign out front reads, “St Dominic, Pray for Us!”)
The chapel is behind the main house, in a 1200 square foot building.
The property is on the right side of the street, right after the one and only S curve you experience on Stagecoach Hill Dr. — a short street only a few blocks long. Right as the S curve starts to straighten out, the property is immediately on the right. Some people miss it, so drive slowly through the S curve!
Also, please note that Stagecoach Rd (over 15 miles long) and Stagecoach Hill Dr (about 4 blocks long) are two different streets. They actually intersect with each other.
