Mass on May 24th – On Wednesday, May 24th (the day before Ascension Thursday) at 4:00 PM, His Excellency Bishop Zendejas will offer Mass at St. Dominic’s Chapel. During this Mass there will be a First Communion, and a May Crowning after Mass. There will also be a potluck as usual. Please join us!

Stella Maris Chapel – La Marque, TX near Houston – Holy Week Schedule

There are no Masses at St. Dominic’s Chapel this week, but we do encourage attendance at Stella Maris Chapel (in La Marque, TX outside Houston) for those able to make the trip.

Holy Week at Stella Maris Chapel – Bishop Williamson will be celebrating Holy Week Liturgy at Stella Maris Chapel (La Marque, TX, outside Houston) starting on April 13th. On Holy Thursday at 7:00 AM, Bishop Williamson will begin the Holy Week Liturgy by offering a Chrismal Mass, a rare Mass that requires a bishop. During this Mass, a bishop confects holy oils, including Holy Chrism, Oil of the Sick and Oil of the Catechumens. These holy oils are used in various sacraments, including Baptism, Confirmation, and Extreme Unction. The Bishop will be at Stella Maris through Easter Sunday. Music for today’s Mass – October 2 is the Feast of the Guardian Angels, so we will be singing Mass VIII, a.k.a. “Mass of the Angels”, for the High Mass today.
Good News – We have been upgrading the altar and sanctuary. So far, the altar backdrop has been enlarged, and there is a nice wooden step under the altar complete with hardwood flooring. A new altar has been built; it only needs to be stained and decorated. A big “thank you” to all those who contributed to this project so far!

His Excellency, Bishop Richard Williamson offered a High Mass at Stella Maris Chapel (La Marque, TX, a short distance from Houston, TX) which was followed by a conference and potluck.

Stella Maris Chapel is the main chapel or headquarters for Fr. Zendejas’ apostolate in Texas. Fr. Zendejas and Fr. Garcia serve St. Dominic’s Chapel from their base at Stella Maris Chapel.

Mass Time Change – Next Sunday (the 25th), Mass with be at 7:30 in the morning. There will not be Mass at 4:00 PM. Meanwhile, Bishop Williamson will be offering a High Mass at 9:30 AM Sept. 25 at Stella Maris Chapel (1131 Delaney Rd, La Marque, TX) followed by a potluck and conference.
Mission Pilgrimage Cancelled – We have been forced to cancel the Mission Pilgrimage originally planned for October 22nd. If we have Mass that week, it will likely be a substitute priest.

High Mass next week – Next Sunday is the 1st Sunday of the month, so we will have a High Mass followed by a Potluck.
SSPX Superiors Meeting – Though they wish to keep it a secret, the SSPX superiors are in fact having a meeting June 26-28 in Switzerland, during which they will discuss the latest proposal from Rome for a practical agreement. Apparently they were so keen on secrecy that they forgot a basic Catholic behavior: while considering such an important and far-reaching decision, they should solicit the prayers of the Faithful.
Traditional Catholicism 101 – Traditional Catholics are those who love the Catholic Faith and doctrine, and want to remain faithful during this unprecedented Crisis in the Church. And what is the Crisis? That truth and authority are at odds with each other! We must choose “truth”, because we have to keep the Faith and save our souls. Therefore we leave our local parishes (which have authority over us, from the Pope down through our local bishops) and seek out priests with valid orders who will offer 100% certain Masses and preach only pre-Vatican II, error-free Catholic doctrine. Catholics have a right to doubt-free Masses and Sacraments; this is the primary principle of the Traditional movement. An “indult” or permission from the Pope or local bishop is not necessary. The encyclical “Quo Primum” of Pope St. Pius V states that the Tridentine Mass can be offered by any priest, and attended by any Catholic, without scruple (i.e., concern that he is doing something wrong).
Over 13 Months of Masses – Frs. Zendejas and Garcia have been making the 3 1/4 to 4 1/2 hour trip from Houston to Seguin every Sunday for over 13 months now! (since May 10, 2015.) During that time, they only missed one Sunday, when Bishop Faure visited the United States last November. We are most grateful to our priests for their dedication in making the drive here every Sunday.
Epistle Reading (Rom 6:3-11) Brethren: All we who are baptized in Christ Jesus, are baptized into his death. For we are buried together with him by baptism into death; that as Christ is risen from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we also may walk in newness of life. About 1 year ago, June 14th 2015. The chapel has come a long way since then!

 

Here is the chapel, less than 1 year later. Wooden pews, Stations of the Cross, Mass vestments, pictures, kneeler, holy water font, altar upgrades, A/C upgrades, sidewalk upgrades, and dozens of other improvements and upgrades. Plus we have an organist now. A big thank you to all our benefactors (both far and near) over the past year — may God reward you!

Feast of the Sacred Heart – Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The actual Feast was Friday, June 3rd.
High Mass – We will have a High Mass today, this being the 1st Sunday of the month. Taking the lead from a traditional Seminary (which offered a High Mass for the Feast of the Sacred Heart every First Friday), we will use Gregorian chant Mass XII “Pater cuncta”.

Welcome His Excellency to St. Dominic’s – Today, May 22nd, His Excellency Bishop Richard Williamson is offering a High Mass at our chapel. Please welcome Fr. Garcia here as well.
Potluck after Mass – As planned, there will be a Texas Bar-B-Q “Episcopal potluck” after the High Mass today to celebrate His Excellency’s visit to our humble chapel. Please bring a dish and join us in our celebration. His Excellency will be there to visit with the Faithful. It’s not every day one gets to have dinner with a Bishop present!
High Mass – In honor of Our Lady as well as the Most Holy Trinity, we will sing Mass IX (“cum jubilo”), as well as Credo IV. We will also sing “O God Almighty Father”, “O Mary of Graces” and “Holy God We Praise Thy Name”.

Benediction Today – We will have Benediction after Mass, since today is the 3rd Sunday of the month.
Bishop Williamson coming to St. Dominic’s – Next Sunday, May 22nd, His Excellency Bishop Richard Williamson will be offering a High Mass at St. Dominic’s. There will be a potluck afterwards. His Excellency hasn’t been to the San Antonio area since 2005. This is an excellent opportunity to meet him and hear him in person!
Potluck Sign-up Sheet – There is a sign-up sheet on the chapel door. If you think you’ll be coming to the potluck next Sunday with Bishop Williamson, please use the sign-up sheet. Thank you!
Chapel Improvements – Work is underway to make St. Dominic’s look as beautiful as possible for the Bishop’s visit. We have need of volunteers willing to help clean the chapel, altar, and help with other small projects. Financial contributions to the chapel “building fund” donation can are also appreciated, since most projects have a material cost. If you are interested in volunteering, please speak to Matthew. May Crowning and First Communions – Today is Mothers’ Day. In honor of Our Blessed Mother, there will be a short procession and May Crowning after Mass today. There will also be 2 First Communions!
Mothers’ Day – We would like to wish all mothers a very happy Mothers’ Day! Fr. Zendejas said we should especially pray for our mothers and grandmothers in the weeks before Mothers’ Day.
Benediction Next Week – On the 3rd Sunday of the month, May 15th, we will have Benediction after Mass.
Bishop Williamson coming to St. Dominic’s – On the 4th Sunday, May 22nd, His Excellency Bishop Richard Williamson will be offering a High Mass at St. Dominic’s. There will be a potluck afterwards. His Excellency hasn’t been to the San Antonio area since 2005. This is an excellent opportunity to meet him and hear him in person!
Chapel Improvements – We should make St. Dominic’s look as good as possible before the Bishop’s visit. So we have need of volunteers willing to help clean the chapel, altar, and help with other small projects. Financial contributions to the chapel “building fund” donation can are also appreciated, since most projects have a material cost. If you are interested in volunteering, please speak to Matthew. Feast of Christ the King – In honor of Christ the King, after Mass today we will have Benediction during which we will recite the Consecration of the human race to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Litany to the Sacred Heart. There are sheets in the back of the chapel for these two prayers. And, as usual, there are booklets with all the Benediction hymns as well. Viva Cristo Rey!

High Mass next week – Next week we will have a High Mass and Potluck for the 1st Sunday, which is also the Feast of All Saints. We will also have a couple of games for all ages in honor of All Saints’ Day.

Fr. Garcia’s Ordination Anniversary – October 22nd was the 15th anniversary of Fr. Garcia’s priestly ordination. We are blessed to have him serving our chapel. Congratulations, Fr. Garcia!

Bishop Faure Visit – The Sunday after Thanksgiving (November 29th) there will not be Mass at St. Dominic’s; everyone is invited to attend Bp. Faure’s Mass at Stella Maris Chapel outside Houston at 9:30 AM, followed by a reception and conference. Bp. Faure was consecrated by Bp. Williamson earlier this year.

Bishop Williamson – Mass and Confirmations in Houston, Texas – July 6, 2015

Quite a few Catholics traveled to Houston, Texas from San Antonio — and much further away — to be there for this extraordinary occasion. We would have even had some from Austin, but they had car problems.

At Mass during the sermon, Bishop Williamson endorses the apostolate of Fr. Zendejas and Fr. Garcia:

There are now TWO permanent locations in Texas for the Traditional Latin Mass being served by this small group of priests alone: San Antonio, TX and Houston, TX. (Of course, the San Antonio location is close enough for Austin residents as well.) Both locations use the 1962 Missal, which is completely traditional, and free from all the 1960’s changes inflicted by the Second Vatican Council. We must never cease our resistance to Vatican 2, which caused so much damage to the Catholic Church and to souls!

His Excellency, Bishop Richard Williamson will be conferring the Sacrament of Confirmation in Houston, TX on Monday, July 6th at 6 pm.

A potluck along with a question and answer session with Bishop Williamson will follow the Mass.
